Reviews
We saw "A Christmas Carol" (adapted by Edward Morgan and Joseph Hanreddy, Starring Jed Diamond, and many other wonderful actors). The show was excellent and the time flew by as we were drawn completely into the story.
We saw A Christmas Carol at the theatre last night. This review is not about the wonderful play but about the theater itself.
During the play I was sat next to a giant man in every proportion. I was not able to use the arm rest on my left due to his size. He held his coat on his lap throughout the entire performance and it encroached onto my lap many times. Every time he moved my seat bounced like a fairground ride and I thought it was going to break from the noises it made a few times. By the end of the play I was feeling very achy and pained from the somewhat uncomfortable seats; this would have happened regardless of who was sitting next to me.
My wife was sat on the other side of me in seat P2. This is the end of the row where seat P1 is reserved for the usher. The usher sat in their seat throughout the show and nervously bounced their foot on the floor and rocked back and forth the entire time. This was extremely distracting for my wife.
Other than that the staff and overall experience was great.
Went to see a reading of a play that was written by Linda Parsons! The actors and actresses, along with the storyline of the play reading drew me in and had me sitting on the edge of my seat. The theatre was spacious and well lit. The director was very welcoming and kind to all the guests. And being on UT's campus is always a remarkable time to see all of it's growth. Always have and always will love going to the Clarence Brown Theatre!
Very nice place to visit. It's been a treat and entertaining working there. The stage set crew does a very good job creating sets and the costume shop makes realistic time accurate clothing. They have found and use many authentic items in all the shows.
A first class venue with some great talent and very well done shows
Excellent performance of Murder on the Orient Express last weekend. The actors/actresses were true to character and really spectacular even down to their facial expressions. The set design was amazing. We also saw Christmas Carol here 2 years ago and it was just as good. I only wish they had more shows like these - we'd go all the time!
Magical night seeing the Christmas Carol. Performance and acting was superb, but especially loved the set and music. Snow at the end was nice touch! Love this theatre!
My husband and I both loved the performance of Murder on the Orient Express. I have seen the movie countless times and I wasn't sure at first about seeing it on stage, but we were both pleasantly surprised. Never could I have imagined that I would actually enjoy the stage performance even more than the original screen version. The set was spectacular... and the costumes! We loved every minute of it! We loved it so much that we are planning to return for another performance 😃
